The WBUT seminars will be the first two in a proposed series of seminars in India. These seminars will run for approximately 3-hours and fulfill the role of briefings on the subject of e-Assessment. These first two seminars will take place at the WBUT campus in Kolkata and we are grateful to Prof. Thakur and his team at WBUT for their enthusiastic support of this project and their vision for West Bengal.
The number of participants will be at the discretion of WBUT but we would expect an invited audience of between 50 to 80 delegates, including senior WBUT and affiliate college staff. The audience will also comprise delegates invited specifically by WBUT and this will include principals of schools and colleges, senior management of regional awarding bodies, senior education figures etc. The delegate list will be drawn up by WBUTand Assessment Tomorrow, who will issue the invitations and provide the final delegate list for the seminar. The invitations for the event will be issued by WBUT and Assessment Tomorrow will manage the event.
The format of the day will be an opening address by WBUT setting the scene. This will be followed by a series of presentations managed by Assessment Tomorrow and involving Question and Answer Sessions. The themes of these presentations will include:
how e-Assessment works,
the benefits and costs,
how e-assessment is used world wide,
best practice, and leverage of the technology to develop skills and capabilities amongst teaching staff and learners
impact on learners,
impact on teaching and learning strategies,
impact on institutions,
the technologies available,
Assessment Tomorrow is inviting a select number of appropriate Indian and UK bodies to Partner them as sponsors in the seminars. They will present their experience in implementing and using the technology and share their experiences in the use of the technology to support learning and qualifications. Both seminars will conclude with an open discussion on how e-Assessment can be used to benefit educational institutions, learners and awarding bodies in the Indian schools and college environment.
